Apple and Qualcomm Huge Legal Battle Kicks Off in San Diego

Apple and Qualcomm head to court in San Diego Monday, in what could be one of the biggest US corporate lawsuits Apple Chief Executivr Tim Cook is expected to give testimony in a four-week trial in a federal court in which the iPhone maker and four companies in its supply chain are suing Qualcomm for up to $27bn in damages for overcharged chip royalties.

Apple Card is Apple’s new Credit Card

Apple launched a credit card at the “Show Time” event called Apple Card. It’s an actual titanium-based MasterCard credit card made in partnership with Goldman Sachs. The card has no late fees, annual fees, over limit fees, and international fees. The card will have your name etched with laser on the card.

Huawei Sues United States Government

Huawei has filed a lawsuit against the United States government over a provision (Section 889) to the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that effectively bans all US government agencies from using products manufactured by the company (as well as ZTE), over spying concerns.

Microsoft and Invenergy sign solar agreement

Microsoft will become the sole offtaker of the energy generated by the Wilkinson Solar Energy Center, a 74-megawatt solar project in North Carolina that will be constructed, owned and operated by Invenergy after the companies today announced a 74-megawatt solar project in North Carolina.

Apple implements AT&T’s Fake 5G E Network Icon

In the United States, AT&T has been creating a lot of controversy for its 5G Evolution (5G E) naming, which is the company’s consumer-facing name for LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology. 5G E in essence is an extension of existing 4G LTE technology and is not in fact true 5G.

US files fraud charges against Huawei

The US justice department has filed charges against Chinese company Huawei.  A 13-count indictment was unsealed in New York charging Huawei, two of its affiliates and a senior executive at the company. The charges include bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and violating the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

HMD partners with Cricket, Verizon and Rogers to offer latest Nokia phones

HMD Global has announced collaborations with three leading wireless providers in North America – Cricket Wireless and Verizon in the United States and Rogers in Canada. HMD Global is also expanding its selection of Nokia smartphones on Android with the launch of two wireless provider-specific devices coming to the United States this month and another coming to Rogers subsidiary brand, chatr, in Canada very soon.

Samsung Galaxy 2019 Unpacked event taking place on February 20

Samsung has announced that it will be holding its Samsung Galaxy 2019 Unpacked event on February 20. In an invitation sent out to the press, a vertically-oriented "10" is displayed, which leaves no doubt about what will be announced. The 10 also refers to the fact that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S family.
