Uber fined £385,000 by ICO over data protection failings

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has fined Uber £385,000 for failing to protect customers’ personal information during a cyber attack. A series of avoidable data security flaws allowed the personal details of around 2.7 million UK customers to be accessed and downloaded by attackers from a cloud-based storage system operated by Uber’s US parent company. This included full names, email addresses and phone numbers.

Xiaomi officially expands to the UK

Xiaomi has officially expanded to the UK with a slew of products at its first ever launch event in the market, highlighting its flagship Mi 8 Pro, making its global debut outside Greater China. Other products announced include Redmi 6A that offers great value and Xiaomi Band 3, Xiaomi’s wildly popular fitness band, as well as Mi Electric Scooter.

O2 investing in enhanced 4G connectivity for 250,000 rural residents

Rural businesses across Britain are set to receive an overall economic boost of approximately £141m per annum from 4G connectivity, according to new economic research commissioned by O2 and conducted by Development Economics. The mobile network operator is today committing to improve 4G connectivity for a further 339 rural communities, from Drumoak to Lizard, by the end of 2018.

IMImobile announces npower as first UK Apple Business Chat client
