Only last week we told you how Tizen would be launching on NTT DoCoMo in March. Unfortunately, Japan’s biggest mobile phone carrier has indefinitely shelved its plans for a Tizen launch. The company has said that the main reason for it putting Tizen on hold is that research from IDC Japan has showed the overall smartphone market (in Japan) has only grown a mere 2% from April to September. There are other rumours that this was because of Development delays with the Tizen OS and that it was not ready to be…

No Tizen devices coming to the US for a while

In a recent interview with FierceWireless, Ryan Bidan, Samsung Mobile’s director of product marketing for the US, acknowledged that bringing a new software platform Stateside would be “a challenge.” At the moment Samsung doesn’t believe that the US “is a great test market” for Tizen, and won’t release products based on it there - at least not in the near future. “We don't want to set ourselves up for failure," declared Bidan. Instead, Tizen devices will be launched…

Samsung develops transparent screen within Tizen IVI concept

The video above gives you an inkling of an idea, a glimpse of the screens that might be. It’s what a driver/user one day might accept to be as normal as windshield wipers. And it’s not just for “your own car”: It can also communicate with the cars around you. This might seem farfetched but in the Netherlands emergency services are using FM and radio messaging to inform you that you are between the fire fighters and a fire, or the paramedics and an urgent call.
