Spotify Lite for Android, a simplified version of the Spotify app, is now available in 36 countries.
It has a similar look and feel, but with a few key differences. It uses less storage, data, and battery to optimise performance, making it ideal for older devices and operating systems. You can download Spotify Lite and use it either alongside or independently from the main Spotify app.
Spotify Lite works much like the main Spotify app. You can still search for and play your favourite songs and artists, save them, share with others, discover new music, enjoy playlists made just for you, and much more. In addition to that, Spotify Lite enables you to track storage and data usage, set a data limit, and receive notifications when you reach it and free up space on your device more easily.
If you already have a Spotify account you can access and use Spotify Lite with the same login details. Any changes you make on your account (saved music, playlists, etc.) when using Spotify Lite are reflected in the main Spotify app, and vice-versa.
“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience — especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage,” says Kalle Persson, Senior Product Manager at Spotify.
Spotify Lite is available in Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Oman, Jordan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, South Africa, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and India.
Lite can be downloaded separately, both for Free and Spotify Premium users, and used either alongside or independently from the main Spotify app on all Android phones running version 4.3 or higher.
